Places to Stay if You're Coming from Away #1: Cod Cove Inn in Edgecomb, Maine

As was documented early in our wedding planning, the decision of where to host the Cooper-Parker wedding extravaganza of October 2010 was a difficult one to make, chiefly because Katelyn is from Michigan and her family is spread out across a good swath of the country while my family is almost entirely located in Maine.  Because of our decision to get married in Maine, we've had to consider--at each step of our planning--how we can best accomodate our guests who will be coming from a distance to celebrate our wedding.

To that end, we have been researching various lodging options in the general Boothbay/Damariscotta region to provide our guests with options for where to stay while in the area for our wedding.  The proprietors of the Cod Cove Inn in Edgecomb, Maine where kind enough to invite Katelyn and I down to see their inn back in January (back when there was still snow on the ground, even).

The Cod Cove Inn is located in Edgecomb, Maine, just off Route 1 heading east towards the Damariscotta region and our wedding venue at Clark's Cove Farm in Walpole, Maine.  It is located just minutes from Wiscasset, Maine--which goes by the nickname of "Maine's Prettiest Village"--and has a pretty view down to the Cod Cove itself.

Obviously--something that is becoming a theme for this wedding--the inclusion of "Cove" in the inn name here plays a big role in our decision haha.  It's funny to me how this theme came about, with no direct intention of our own.

The Cod Cove Inn is located about 25 minutes away from our wedding venue by car; the map below features a slight correction of the driving directions to help our wedding guests avoid the traffic congestion which will no doubt be happening in downtown Damariscotta during the Pumkin Fest festivities:

The Cod Cove Inn is a very nice place to stay with a very professional and personable staff on-hand.  Even though we were part of a very small number of guests the night that we stayed--not too many tourists in the area in January--staff were there if we had any questions and a full continental breakfast service was available in the main area of the inn when we woke up in the morning.  The homemade muffins were huge and delicious!
