Before I write anything further, enough suspense, right?  Katelyn and I are going to be married on Saturday, October 9th, 2010 at Clark's Cove Farm in Walpole, Maine!

Pretty much ever since our first rainy day visit to Clark's Cove Farm, even though we were worried about the radiator fluid leaking from my car, even though the weather wasn't cooperating with us, we were in love with the venue.  Of course, it was only the second venue we'd visited (and the first, Greystone Manor, went off the board when we found out that 2010 had been fully rented), so it was very necessary for us to explore other options just to make sure that Clark's Cove Farm could stand up to other places we visited.  Clearly, it has.

After we were done at the 1812 Farm in Bristol, my parents, Katelyn and I made the short jaunt over to Clark's Cove Farm to show them what we'd fallen in love with and to meet Tim, the property owner, to talk about the business aspect of securing the venue.  The local pumpkin festival in Damariscotta was in full swing, and the farm was fairly busy with people showing up to pick apples.  Within five minutes of being at the venue, my mom was already smitten with it, just as we were on our first visit.

With the better weather on this visit, we were able to explore more of the venue grounds than we were able to on our initial visit.  Walking down through the apple orchard, we were able to get down to the namesake cove and take more pictures.  If we were to have our ceremony site down at this section of the venue, it would be a considerable walk for our wedding party, but Tim has graciously offered to drive the older guests down if we so desired, taking care of that problem right off the bat.

Our initial concern about how to accomodate our guests in the event of horribly inclement weather remains, as even with Katelyn's planning work, we're still going to have to work to get everybody taken care of inside.  However, with some clever planning and playing around with the guest list, we should be able to make sure that everybody is sheltered from the cold, wind and rain if we should have to deal with any of that.

As the introduction to this post made clear, it has been a long search for our perfect wedding venue and Katelyn and I have been all over the place looking for something for the place that would be suited for us.  We are very happy to finally have this taken care of and look forward to providing more information about lodging, area attractions, and the best driving routes for our guests to join us on our happy day.

  1. Yay! It must be so exciting to have settled on a venue. I was directed to your site by Rose Ortega, since I'm having wedding venue woes of my own (after negotiating with our venue for a month, things fell through). I wish I could get my fiance as involved as you are. He's one of those that just has no concept of time, and doesn't understand why it's so urgent to book a venue, NOW (we're also looking at Oct 2010). Things are already booking up. Case in point, we wanted the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend, and if we were to go to the 1812 Farm or your venue, we'd be out of luck.
